cherish

I don't make a whole lot of 8x10 layouts but that is the size my mil and sil use. I had taken a beautiful picture of them with their dgd's & dggd's and wanted to put them in a frame to give to them. The gorgeous flower medallion looking embellishment is from a tutorial Lisa has going on over at http://www.what-a-beautiful-mess.blogspot.com/. Lisa also had a beautiful leafy vine to download. I made mine an svg and cut it out and then hand tinted it with dyes and chalks then did some doodling on it. http://www.stuckonusketches.blogspot.com/ has a button challenge this week so I incorporated them into this layout and love my finished result. I hope my mil and sil love them also.
I used storybook cricut cart for the photo mat and textile embossing folder; the font is jester using scal; fiskars border punch and paper is from the best of brenda walton by k&co.

Have a wonderful day!

celebrate

This layout is for the May 7th sketch at www.stuckonusketches.blogspot.com . I didn't finish it in time for the link but it feels good to have had time to play along with their sketch. Hope to get more time for layouts soon. So on to the picture.... this is of my youngest daughter on her 18th birthday. We were celebrating at Chevy's restaurant and her friend decided to do the old cupcake in the face. I really loved this sketch by Liz Qualman and finally made my first Tim Holtz grunge roses.

couple of close-ups of the roses--I can see myself getting addicted to making these!

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

Easter layout

Finally finished my easter layout that will be home to my dgd's 5x7 easter bunny photo. I can't believe I worked on this off and on for weeks--oh well it's finally done!
cricut :
doodlecharms for the sun and the nose on the little chick (it's the rabbits nose on dc)
tink for the butterfly
a child's year for photo mat
plantin schoolbook for animal eyes/sun eyes (ovals) and the little chick's face (circle)
walk in my garden for the flowers (from the wheelbarrow shift function)
easter for the large scallop mat, the chocolate rabbit, the lamb (cut an oval in half for eyes) and the grass
the egg with legs poking out is an svg file that I created to resemble the quickkutz die. I then tore the top of the egg off and placed the chick face behind it.
I used fruit punch stickles on the bunny bow and butterfly; chalked the sun and chick face

this is just a close up of the little lamb and chick
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

tinkerbell card

I made this card for my grand daughters 5th birthday. Her current fave is tinkerbell and the color green so this is what I came up with. Cricut cart tinkerbell for tink and mushroom. Tinks eyes were colored in--they cut way to small at 6".
Butterflies are an svg file I created as is the border on the on the background paper. Used teeny tiny aqua flat back pearls on the right hand side of card; stickles down the center of butterflies; tim holtz tea dye ink on edges.
Submitted this to Frosted Designs for the aqua, lime green, brown challenge.

Circle flip-up book

I made this darling little circle flip-up book for my youngest daughter's 18th bday. I love love love how this turned out (it is so much cuter in real life). The cover is all items I had in my stash that I wanted to use up.
Split coast stampers has featured these and I had been wanting to try one. I made an svg file to cut out the base of mine. I made mine as large as the mat would hold (I think around 11.50" and then saw that I had saved a cut file from the cricut mb for one that had the designer paper cuts as well. The cricut file I have needed quite a few paper size adjustments so I had some hand trimming to do. Here is the website for directions on these:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/circleflipupbook/

This is the first circle. I used a child's year card feature for the hidden photo mats and the "18";
butterflys from stash; flat back pearls and sizzix closures; home decor for the tiara's and the flower/dragonfly group on the bottom left

this picture shows the hidden photo mats that are revealed when you slide the black sizzix closure.

top view looking down. the bottom half of these fold up into the top half when closed.

for the next circle I used a child's year tag feature and hid the hole in design studio to make them photo mats; graphically speaking for "she's all that" and flowers

for this page I wanted another interactive fun page so the top right is tied shut to hide another photo mat. All photo mats were cut using a file I created to resemble the ms double loop punch; all flowers and butterfly's were from stash.

here is the top right opened up to reveal photo mats.

this last circle I cut photo corners large enough to make pockets for the tags to fit in. I thought my daughter could use the tags for photos.

close up of the flowers cut from accent essentials and added heart buttons.

here is a picture of the album opened up. You can tie these open and display if you like also.
It is too bad that my pictures are not that great because this is so super cute in person!

Where in the world did March go!!!!!!!!!

Wow, this has been a crazy, busy month for me! The next few months will also be a whirlwind. I hope to get to all the blogs that I love to visit so much and get caught up on all the fantastic happenings that I know all of you have been up to! I miss visiting everyone!
I didn't get a chance to do any layouts in the last three weeks but had to squeeze in some gifts and softball projects. Here are two of my bigger projects wrapped into one post.
This first project I just finished is a paperbag album for my neighbor who is having a baby boy within the next month. Each month has a coordinating journaling tag that tucks away behind the photo mat. We all know how busy that first year is and I thought how wonderful it would be for her to have a little book all ready for a picture each month. They grow and change so fast! Her shower was this past weekend and she adored this little book. I made a similiar one for a baby girl last year, but like this one much better!

"1st year" cut using plantin schoolbook end caps feature regular and shadow

new arrival for title and journaling tag is the expecting mommy; photo corners are an svg file

The puppy is an svg file and I attached it to a standard tag for journaling; home decor for bird; paperdoll dressup for fence, wagon and clumps of grass; pooh and friends for kite

this is the next pocket pull out so again I made it a card. paperdoll dressup for trick or treater; a childs year for witch; plantin schoolbook for "moon" and the paperdolls eyes

inside I used martha stewart drippy goo punch; accent essentials for journaling tag holder and photo mat; happily ever after for pumpkin on photo mat

christmas solutions for santa and reindeer over moon, the tree, bear and rocking horse; a childs year for photo mat; stardust stickles used on snow and star
joys of the season for journaling tag

accent essentials for snowflakes; jasmine photo corners

joys of the season card feature cut in half for journaling tag the font is scal

plantin schoolbook for heart border from a design studio file that dlh from the cricut messageboard had shared last year; jesse james heart buttons
the journaling tag is a graphic image from The Graphics Fairy that I printed and then trimmed

this tucks into the last pocket of the album. a childs year for clovers and the journaling tag is the shamrock hat from that cart also; accent essentials for photo mat

this is the flip side of march. pooh and friends for easter egg sign; doodlecharms for the eggs; plantin schoolbook for grass; the egg with the legs sticking out is an svg file I made to resemble the quickutz chick and egg die; the journaling tag is doodlecharms egg
I wanted to include a first birthday layout so I made a card to put in the last pocket also. no cricut cuts on the front
